Explore the captivating allure of Sesfontein, a charming settlement nestled in Namibia’s Kunene region, renowned for its six natural fountains. At the heart of this remote locale lies Fort Sesfontein Lodge, a historic landmark with origins dating back to 1896.

Originally established as a police checkpoint to regulate cattle disease, smuggling, and illegal hunting, the fort fell into disrepair after its abandonment in 1914. However, in the 1990s, restoration efforts breathed new life into the property, preserving its rich history and architectural significance.

Set amidst the arid landscapes between Damaraland and Kaokoveld, the lodge provides a welcome oasis, complete with lush palm trees and a welcoming pool.

Embark on exhilarating day trips, exploring the diverse wildlife of the region, including desert-adapted elephants, rhinos, and lions. Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Himba tribes in their villages, or marvel at ancient rock carvings at Sossos.

Hoanib Tour

Explore the Hoanib, one of the largest rivers in Namibia. Allowing for a large variety of animals to roam this area freely, including Giraffe, Desert-adapted elephant, lions, and other game. The landscape changes dramatically from grass veld to gravel desert and mountain ranges along this drive.

Our guides come from the local Himba communities, ensuring that our interaction with the local tribes is authentic and done. The Himba are one of the last Nomadic pastoralist tribes, who live as they have done for thousands of years.

Guided visits through the picturesque savannah. The petroglyphs at Sossos were only discovered in the 1970’s and the engravings of rhinos found are further north than any other engraving of rhinos in Namibia. These engravings are still being examined by archaeologists.

In collaboration with the Sesfontein Conservancy and their rangers, Fort Sesfontein offers an exclusive Rhino Tracking Tour. Seize the opportunity to experience an extraordinary wildlife encounter in Kaokoveld. The package is based on a 3-night stay.

We invite you to get up close and personal with Sesfontein, the picturesque village where the Fort is located.
